Stayner
Camp is a haven hidden under a beautiful grove of
pine trees. It is located in Stayner, Ontario, less
than 2 hours from Toronto and the Kitchener / Waterloo
region. Enjoy seasonal camping on quiet lots under
your choice of sun or shade. The camp has much to
offer as a conference and retreat facility – including
a central lodge, cabins, a heated gymnasium with a
climbing wall, tennis courts, a large auditorium and
a sports field. The camp is minutes away from the
longest sandy beach and some of the best skiing in
the province. Water parks, golfing, hiking, antique
shops and various other tourist attractions abound
in the immediate area. Stayner Camp programs offer
a great opportunity for spiritual renewal, building
friendships, fun and recreation.

History of Stayner Camp
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Stayner Bible Conference Grounds and Camp Mishewah
were incorporated in 2004 and the Camping Ministry
is now known as Evergreen Christian Ministries.
Camp Meetings called "Bush Meetings" have been held in Ontario since
1890.
Our white pine site on Scott Street in Stayner was leased and purchased in 1925
from the Gartlan Estate for $1,500.00.

• 1933 - Campgrounds committee planted 3,000 seedlings on
the grounds.
• 1936 - The dining hail and kitchen were erected and the
west four acres were planted with red pine.
• 1938 - The South Washrooms were built and a youth Camp
was started by Dr. I.H. Erb, which ran in conjunction
with the regular camp. 128 young people were enrolled. Rev. P.G. Lehman was
the Bible Instructor.
• 1947 - The Tabernacle was erected with the use of timber
from the campgrounds.
• 1948-The Book Store was built.
• 1949 - The Long House was built.
• 1953 - Beginning of Camp Pinewagami. As time went on, the
age of admission to the boys and girls camp was
lowered and separated from the General Camp. Trail
of the Pines Camps came into being on the grounds enrolling over four hundred
youth in a season, about a hundred a week in four successive camps, two for
girls and two for boys. Rev. & Mrs. Paul Storms directed
these camps for many years. Most of the youth camps
are now held at Mishewah with only Trail of the
Pines on the Stayner grounds.
• 1957 - The District Youth funded and helped build the Fellowship
Hall and the Tool Shed (Now Cabins 5A & 5B)
was built.
• 1965 - The Brown property to the North of the campgrounds
was purchased and develo ped into an athletic field.
• 1970 - New Kitchen and addition to the Dining Hall.
• 1974 - Municipal sewers were put in and the east section
of the Lodge was built.
• 1976 - Link between the Dining Hall and the Lodge was built
(lounge and offices).
• 1977 - Dining Hall insulated and decorated and Fire Place
added.
• 1978 - Asphalt roof was put on the Tabernacle.
• 1979
- Addition to the Lodge of the west section.
• 1982 - Metal roofing was put on the Dining Hall.
• 1983 - Purchase of 9 Lots from Irvine Locke on the North
side of the property.
• 1986 - Built the workshop/tool shed (14'x25').
• 1988 - North Washroom was built.
• 1989 - The Gymnasium was added to the Athletic Field and
the Air Conditioning was put in the Dining Hall.
• 1992 - Tuck Shop was erected.
• 1993 - A gable roof was put on the Lodge and a Manager's
Residence was built on Saunders Street.
• 1999 - Renovations to winterize the Nursery.
Since
then a new roof was put on the Fellowship Hall,
storage addition at the back of the workshop, a
new roof was put on the Tabernacle and the Tuck
shop was insulated and drywalled.
There are 15 camp cabins, 4 camp cabins with more
than one room, a building used as a nursery and
toddler room with the staff cabin attached and 2
camp cottages on the grounds. In addition to this
there are 15 privately owned cottages on the property.
We have 122 campsites and 20 permanent campsites
with sewers, and improvements continue to be made
to the property. |
