Meet our Stayner Director
George Grierson is the Conference Center Director at Stayner Bible Conference Grounds. He and his wife
Sue have been in pastoral ministry for the past 30 years and have served in Toronto - Wellspring, Mississauga (church planting), Oakville, Lion's Head and Elmira. Currently George is helping out one day per week at Clearview Community Church in Stayner as an associate pastor. They have two daughters - Erin, married to Devon and expecting their first child in June of 2013; and Leah, engaged to be married to Jeremy.
George finds tremendous fulfillment in working at Stayner Bible Conference Grounds. "There is such a sense of history here as I work on the grounds and deal with people in my ministry. I am continually conscious of how many significant spiritual decisions have been made over the 100 years these grounds have been used for camp meetings. It is my desire to see this place continue where children and adults make decisions to follow Jesus Christ. There is still something uniquely special about coming to camp!"
Invite George to speak at your church. He can describe the ministry and volunteer opportunities at SBCG. If you made Stayner Bible Conference Grounds part of your yearly plans to renew both spiritually as well as recreationally, George would be pleased.
Meet our Mishewah Staff Team
Rob Benkhe is our Managing Director. Rob and his family live in the quaint village of Killaloe just down the road from Mishewah. As you can see from the picture Rob has a 'big' task ahead of him to keep Mishewah ready for you and me to attend.
Rob's heart for the people who dwell in the Ottawa Valley is just as big as this tree. His desire is to reach out to those lives that cross paths with his. The invitation is for all to come and spend some time on beautiful Round Lake. Rob has pastored for many years. He is now a full time director of Mishewah and as you read this is deep into planning for the next camping season. Rob is available to speak at churches and tell the stories of how God is using Mishewah to build leaders, guide lost souls to Christ, bring healing to broken people and give kids a totally wonderful week of camp. You will find Rob at Mishewah's family camp sessions, youth camp sessions and at the other unique events that the camp is used for.
Steve and Jeanette Balzer have been working together with children in various roles their entire 29 years of marriage. They also really love being at Camp! Jeanette started out at Trail of the Pines as a camper way, way back! Steve had camping adventures as a child at Camp Kakeka and Camp Bimini. They have had
various roles over the years, from camper to counsellor to dishwasher to cook. (OK, Steve didn’t do the cooking!) In 2000 they began co-directing Trail of the Pines, and in 2006 they began at Mishewah as well. They have four adult sons who also have camp in their blood, and can’t seem to stay away from it in the summer! One of Steve and Jeanette’s favourite things is to see campers attend over the years, then move on to staff positions, then on to other leadership opportunities in life. They greatly enjoy the people they meet and the relationships they build, and are thrilled to see kids and teens growing in their faith with Jesus Christ, and developing their leadership skills. As long as God allows, you will find them in the great outdoors at Camp!
