Our LIT program runs during our Day Camp Overnighter week. If you are between 13 and 15 you have an opportunity to learn from some of the best leaders in camping today. These are people that are sold out for Jesus and completely devoted to making sure the leaders for tomorrow's camps are prepared and ready for the incredible task before them.
The LIT program is held on the grounds of Stayner Camp, during our Heroes on the Move Day Camps which has some campers signing up for the weeklong overnight option. The Leader in Training program is designed to help you as you move from being a camper to becoming a junior staff member. We hope that while you do this program, your desire is to still be a camper at a week of camp. You are never too old for fun! The program emphasizes the development of your Christian faith and the skills you need to effectively teach, support and lead the activities at a camp. There will be some classroom style learning, lots of observing to do, practicing your skills and some very friendly testing.
The skills you are beginning to acquire will take you someday into further education and the workplace. Camp plays a unique role in character development and building a strong work ethic. At the end of the week successful participants will receive a certificate of completion which could be a valuable addition to a resume. When we hire staff for Mishewah or Stayner preference is given to successful graduates of our LIT program.
As with all our camp staff we want you to embrace the RAFT principle:
Are you Reliable, Available, Faithful and Teachable.
LIT's stay in an LIT cabin with a young adult who is your coach and mentor throughout the program. Some off site activities will be planned for exercise, for learning and for fun. Your days will be full. Interested?
